Advice Yard
Your City, Your Advice

Our Mission

To be the most organized and interactive source for peer to peer advice

What is AdviceYard.com?

AdviceYard.com is a place for people to share their knowledge and learn from others. You can find a solution to a serious problem or just get a simple recommendation for a neighborhood restaurant. Everyone knows something, why not share it!

What Sets Us Apart?

Have you ever been to other advice sites? We have, and to be blunt: They're a mess! Very few sites are organized by city- why would you want someone from Dallas to answer your question about up and coming neighborhoods in New York? At AdviceYard we create "Yards" based on city and help you connect with people from your hometown. Additionally, our members join communities based on their interests or profession, so you know who to ask and have a specific place to post your question. On our competitors sites, your question about schools in New York will probably get sandwiched between questions like "Is there a God" and "My boyfriend cheated on me with my sister, should I dump him?" You get the point. So to recap, we're local, we're organized, and we're user friendly...why not join us?

  1. Clean and organized interface.  Other Q&A sites are very loud and all over the place.  We sought out to make one of the most organized and interactive sites for ease of use.
  2. Local.  Ask questions to members and get more relevant answers from the people that live and breathe from your city.  We are currently in a NYC area beta but will open up additional city "yards" when there's more demand.
  3. Self Promotion.  No other Q&A site offers the end user themselves the opportunity to advertise and promote their own business, service or skill.  The entire site is free, but to self promote you must upgrade to a premium membership ($60/6 months & $100/ 1 year).  Their business gets indexed for the respective period of time in up to (3) communities, they receive a dedicated business page (with logo, business info, overview, etc) and a link in their user profile.
  4. Rich Social Platform.  Our main focus was to exchange peer to peer advice, but our biggest beef with social networks today is that they remain online.  We wanted to create a platform where users can not only receive advice online from other members, but actually seek out their services in the real world.  Being that it's local (users can actually make legit contacts in the city they live in) and member's who chose to advertise their own business or service is in their city.  They potentially can get some plumbing advice from a member on the site and then look up and use his plumbing service that's located in Brooklyn.

Why Should I Use AdviceYard?

When it comes to information, the web is an unparalleled resource.  Unfortunately, many times it seems like there is too much information out there to process. Why waste your time Googling topics and sifting through pages of information? At AdviceYard, you can post your question and let the answers come to you!  We believe that when given the opportunity, people enjoy helping others and sharing their knowledge. With our site, we have created the ideal forum for this to happen.  You can post your questions, share your expertise, and *inexpensively advertise your business all within our fun and user friendly social network.

*In this economy we're offering extremely low advertising rates for small business owners and freelancers.  $60 for 6 months or $100 for 1 year.  This entitles you to a dedicated page for your business, including your logo, business overview/details and an indexed listing in up to (3) of our communities.
